Panthers sign Gilroy, Matsumoto to one-year deals

The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Matt Gilroy and center Jon Matsumoto to one-year, two-way contracts.

Gilroy, 28, has appeared in 209 NHL games, with the New York Rangers (2009-11, 2012-13), Tampa Bay Lightning (2011-12) and Ottawa Senators (2012), registering 10 goals and 46 points. He played in 15 games with the Rangers last season.

Matusmoto, 26, has played in 14 NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes (2011-12) and the Panthers (2012), recording two assists. He played in 60 games with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League last season, recording 14 goals and 32 points as well as recording a goal in five games with the AHL Chicago Wolves.
