The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday announced they will use compliance buyouts on defenseman Steve Montador and left wing Rostislav Olesz.

The window for compliance buyouts opened at 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday and lasts until 5 p.m. ET on July 4. Each player must clear waivers for the buyouts to take place. If a player is claimed, the Blackhawks would save a compliance buyout, per the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Montador has two years remaining on his contract, which would have counted $2.75 million against the salary cap, according to Capgeek.com. Olesz also has two years left on his contract, and would count $3.123 million against the cap.
