Coyotes extend contract of assistant GM Treliving

The Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday agreed with vice president of hockey operations and assistant general manager Brad Treliving on a multiyear contract extension. Terms were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to re-sign Brad to a multiyear contract extension,” general manager Don Maloney said. “Brad is a valuable member of our hockey operations department and has done a great job managing our AHL affiliate in Portland.”

Treliving is entering his seventh season as assistant GM. He also serves as general manager of the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates.

“I’m thrilled to re-sign with the Coyotes,” Treliving said. “I have very much enjoyed working with Don and our entire staff the past six seasons and look forward to building a winner here in the Valley.”

Treliving, 43, joined the Coyotes after serving as president of the Central Hockey League (CHL) for seven years.

Treliving co-founded the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) in 1996 and served as the league’s vice president and director of hockey operations for five seasons. The native of Penticton, British Columbia played an integral role in the merger of the WPHL and the CHL in May 2001 upon which he began his tenure as president of the league.

Prior to his front-office career, Treliving played five professional hockey seasons from 1990-91 to 1994-95 including stints with the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League (IHL) and the New Haven and Prince Edward Island Senators of the AHL.
