DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars aren't focusing on missing the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs for five straight years. Instead, the organization is looking forward, and an event for season-ticket holders and other guests Tuesday night in downtown Dallas pointed toward the future.

In the final moments of the event, the Stars introduced a new logo, a silver D with a star behind it with a green outline. Dallas also unveiled the team's uniforms for the 2013-14 season. Modeling the jerseys were Stars center Jamie Benn, a 2012 NHL All-Star, and franchise icon Mike Modano, who finished his career with more points than any American-born player in League history.

Stars owner Tom Gaglardi introduced the new logo and jerseys and stated that in addition to black and silver, a unique shade of green, which Gaglardi dubbed Victory Green, would be part of the color scheme going forward. Gold, which had been part of the Stars' look since the club relocated from Minnesota in 1993, would no longer be part of the logo or uniforms.

The look was well received by the 2,400 in attendance and was a big hit with Benn and Modano.

"I think they look great. They're sharp and it's an honor putting on a new jersey," Benn said. "It's pretty unique. Like we talked about, it was a different color. It's our own color, Victory Green. I think it's going to look sharp out there on the ice."

Benn admitted neither he nor any of his teammates had input about the new look, but Modano, who works in the Dallas front office as a special adviser, did hold some sway over the final design. And he had one simple request: That green remain a part of the club's look.

"I came from Minnesota and it [that color] is just something people recognize. Over the years, we got away from that," Modano said. "It's a good color. It's different. Obviously, no one has it (in the NHL), and that's the way it was with the North Stars. Green was kind of unique and different.

"It shows well on TV. It pops good on the white ice. When you see it, you know it's us."
