The NHL and National Hockey League Players' Association are continuing to work with the International Ice Hockey Federation and the International Olympic Committee on potential participation in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told NHL.com on Thursday.

Daly, who is in Stockholm for international meetings, said Olympic participation will be discussed at length Friday.

"It's an ongoing process and discussion," he said. "We talked about it a little bit [Thursday]. We have a meeting that is more Olympic focuses with logistics [Friday].

"I don't expect an announcement imminently, but the process continues to move forward."

When asked if it's realistic to think that the NHL, NHLPA, IIHF and IOC could come to a resolution on Olympic participation by the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Daly said, "I think certainly that's possible."
