Flames sign Markus Granlund to entry-level contract

The Calgary Flames have signed center Markus Granlund, their second-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, to an entry-level contract, the team announced Friday. The three-year deal has an average annual value of $925,000.

The native of Oulu, Finland, the 45th player taken two years ago, has played the past three seasons for HIFK Helsinki. He had 10 goals and 20 assists in 50 games this season, and led Finland in scoring (12 points) at the 2013 World Junior Championship.

Granlund, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, turned 20 on April 16.
