The game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins scheduled for Friday night at TD Garden has been postponed, the National Hockey League announced.

The announcement came after both clubs cancelled their morning skates scheduled for the arena amid the ongoing security situation in Boston. The city, as well as several surrounding communities, are "locked down" by authorities as the search for one of the suspects involved in the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday continues. Government officials advised residents of the city to "shelter in place" until further notice.

The Pittsburgh-Boston game has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, April 20, at TD Garden beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET. The game's status will be formalized no later than 8:30 a.m. Saturday, the NHL said.

To accommodate the reschedule, the game between the Penguins and Buffalo Sabres, scheduled for Saturday night in Pittsburgh, has been moved to Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
