Philadelphia's Briere sidelined with concussion

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Monday that veteran forward Danny Briere will be sidelined indefinitely with a concussion.

The team said prior to Sunday's morning skate in Pittsburgh that the 35-year-old forward has sustained an upper-body injury during practice Saturday. He did not play Sunday in Philadelphia's 2-1 overtime loss to the Penguins.

Tye McGinn was subsequently called up from Adirondack of the American Hockey League.

Briere, who skated on a line with Scott Hartnell and Max Talbot during practice Friday, hasn't scored in his past 13 appearances for the Flyers. He has five goals and 13 points in 26 games for the Flyers, who are currently No. 13 in the Eastern Conference with 13 wins and 28 points.

In addition to Briere, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren also said that defenseman Nicklas Grossman remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
