Devils' Brodeur skating, but no return date set

NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur skated Tuesday morning, but general manager Lou Lamoriello said there is no timetable for him to return from his back injury.

This is the first time Brodeur has skated since Feb. 24, when he pulled himself out of warmups prior to a home game against the Winnipeg Jets.

"There's no timetable on that until he's 100 percent," Lamoriello said. "It's part of his rehab to get strength. He's been off the ice for quite a while now. It's still going to be a little bit."

The Devils are 2-5-1 since Brodeur pulled himself out of the lineup. They host the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday (7:30 p.m., NBCSN, TSN2)

Lamoriello also announced the Devils have put defenseman Henrik Tallinder (lower-body injury) on injured reserve, retroactive to March 7. Tallinder, who has been skating and is considered day-to-day, injured himself during warmups prior to a game March 5 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Lamoriello stressed there is no connection between Tallinder's injury and the blood clot in his leg that kept him out of 37 games last season.

"He's still not where he should be," Lamoriello said of Tallinder.

Lamoriello said left wing Dainius Zubrus (wrist surgery) should be getting close to skating again. He hasn't played since Feb. 5 and underwent surgery on his left wrist nine days later.

"It's getting to weeks right now," Lamoriello said. "I don't think it's going to be too long before he's skating."

Lamoriello also said the Devils have called up Harri Pesonen from Albany of the American Hockey League. Pesonen has 11 goals, 26 points and a plus-5 rating in 54 AHL games this season.
