The Winterhawks are inching closer to clinching the top overall record in the Western Hockey League with the help of Seth Jones.

Jones, a top prospect for the NHL Draft in June, scored twice and added an assists as Portland downed the Everett Silvertips 6-3 Tuesday.

Ty Rattie also scored twice for Portland (52-12-3), which broke a three-game losing streak and hold a 10-point lead atop the standings over the Edmonton Oil Kings with six games remaining.

Chase De Leo and Nicolas Petan also scored for the Winterhawks. Petan's goal was his league-leading 45th of the season.

Landon Oslanski scored twice for Everett (23-38-6), which remains tied with Seattle for seventh place in the Western Conference playoff race. Ryan Harrison added a third-period goal for the Silvertips.

Rattie hit the 100-point mark for the second straight season with a goal that put Portland up 5-3 with 6:46 left in regulation. Rattie joins teammates Petan and Brendan Leipsic in the 100-point club — the first Winterhawks trio to do that since Terry Black, Dennis Holland and Troy Mick in 1988-89.

De Leo and Jones scored 1:22 apart in the first period to give Portland an early two-goal lead, and Jones pushed the lead to 3-0 on a goal with 1.1 seconds left in the period.

Everett's Oslanski scored the only goal of the second period on a long shot that fooled screened Portland goaltender Mac Carruth.

Petan pushed the Portland lead to 4-1 2:12 into the third period, but the Silvertips rallied to within 4-3 with 7:07 to play on goals by Oslanski and Harrison.

Rattie scored 21 seconds after Harrison to rebuild Portland's lead, then added an empty-netter with 13 seconds to play.

Carruth made 31 saves, including 16 in the third period, to pick up the win in net for the Winterhawks. Daniel Cotton stopped 37 shots for the Silvertips.

Everett went 2-for-8 on the power play, while Portland went scoreless on two opportunities.
