Islanders' McDonald suspended for two games

NEW YORK -- New York Islanders forward Colin McDonald has been suspended for two games for boarding Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy in NHL Game No. 83 in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, January 29, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, McDonald will forfeit $7,567.56. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 18:54 of the second period. McDonald received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.
