QMJHL: Mooseheads continue to roll at home with 4-1 win over Screaming Eagles

The Halifax Mooseheads are doing a great job this season with pleasing their home crowd.

Brent Andrews scored twice as Halifax downed the visiting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 4-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play.

The Mooseheads (31-3-2) have won 17 games in a row at home and improved their record at the Halifax Metro Centre to 17-1-0. Their only loss came back on Sept. 28th when they faced the Gatineau Olympiques in their home opener.

Ryan Falkenham had a goal and an assist for Halifax, who have won 10 of their last 11 games overall, while Trey Lewis and Stefan Fournier chipped in with two assists each.

Dominic Beauchemin added a single goal to round out the offence for the Mooseheads.

Branson Beaton scored the lone goal for the Screaming Eagles (9-23-7), who have dropped three straight games.

Zachary Fucale turned away 13-of-14 shots for his league-leading 24th victory of the season as David Honzik made 33 saves in a losing cause.

Halifax went 1 for 2 on the power play while Cape Breton failed to score on its only chance with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Acadie-Bathurst 5, Saint John 1 and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Val-d'Or 4.

At Halifax, Beaton opened the scoring for Cape Breton 4:39 into the first period, however the Mooseheads came back with four unanswered goals.

Beauchemin tied the game with a power-play goal at 10:57 as Halifax outshot the Screaming Eagles 18-4 through the opening 20 minutes.

Andrews gave the Mooseheads their first lead at 18:38 of the second period and Falkenham made it 3-1 at 11:10 of the third period.

With Honzik pulled for the extra attacker, Andrews scored his second goal of the night into an empty net at 17:45.

At Saint John, N.B., Patrick Walsh had a goal and an assist and Jacon Brennan turned aside 26-of-27 shots as Acadie-Bathurst (14-20-5) handed the Sea Dogs (16-21-0) their fifth straight defeat.

At Val-d'Or, Que., Maxime St-Cyr had a goal and two assists and Rouyn-Noranda (25-10-1) scored three times with the man advantage as it edged the Foreurs (17-17-3) for its seventh win in as many outings.
