PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Jake Smith stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced to lead the Brampton Battalion to a 4-1 win over the Peterborough Petes in Ontario Hockey League play Thursday.

Jamie Lewis, Mike Amadio, Nicholas Foglia and Zach Bell scored for Brampton (16-13-5).

Greg Betzold scored the only goal for Peterborough (8-21-4).

The Petes opened the scoring 12:49 into the first period. Betzold dumped the puck into the corner from the blue-line then chased it down as it bounced in front of the net and jammed it home.

Lewis picked off a Petes clearing attempt along the boards and scored an unassisted marker three minutes later to send the teams to the locker room tied 1-1.

Brampton controlled play in the second, outshooting the Petes 24-13 and scored the only two goals of the period.

Amadio buried a cross-crease pass during a 5-on-3 power play then Foglia snuck a backhand between Andrew D'Agostini and the post at 3:34. Bell blasted home a point shot in the final minute for the last goal of the game.

Smith was sharp in the Battalion net to prevent the Petes from being able to mount a comeback. Brampton was 2 for 5 on the power play. Peterborough didn't score on its two man advantages.
