Kevin Gagne hit a new career high and helped the Saint John Sea Dogs end a four-game losing slide.

Gagne scored his 10th goal of the season Tuesday as Sain John downed the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-1 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The 10 goals are a new personal best for Gagne in a season.

Oliver Cooper and Aidan Kelly also scored for the Sea Dogs (15-16-0).

Bronson Beaton replied for the Screaming Eagles (8-20-6).

Beaton got the Screaming Eagles on the board just 1:34 into the game but Cooper evened the score at 12:22 on a beautiful toe-drag.

Stephen MacAulay made a sharp initial pass to Cooper, who held on to the puck and roofed it over outstretched goaltender David Honzik.

Gagne pulled the Sea Dogs ahead at 15:57, with Ryan Tesink and Jakub Izacky assisting on the bullet from the point.

The second period saw no scoring, but Saint John dominated the shot clock 18-3.
