WHL Roundup: A look at Sunday's games

Brendan Walker scored twice and added two assists as the Saskatoon Blades crushed the host Regina Pats 7-0 on Sunday afternoon in Western Hockey League play.

It was the second time in as many days that the Blades had full control as they blanked the Pats 9-0 on Saturday in Saskatoon.

Matej Stranksy and Josh Nicholls also scored twice for the Blades (15-14-1) while Shane McColgan had a goal and an assist. Adam Kambeitz chipped in with three assists.

Jack Rodewald was a team-worst minus-5 for the Pats (11-18-4), who are winless in seven straight outings.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Kamloops 4, Vancouver 1; and Portland 4, Tri-City 1.

At Regina, Andrey Makarov made 22 saves for his league-leading fourth shutout of the season as Matt Hewitt picked up the loss after allowing five goals on 31 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Teagan Sacher stopped 12-of-14 shots in 29 minutes of relief.

Saskatoon went 1 for 7 on the power play while Regina failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Blazers 4 Giants 1

At Vancouver, Brendan Ranford had a goal and an assist and rookie backup Taran Kozun stopped 24 of 25 shots as the Kamloops Blazers (24-7-3) defeated the Giants (8-23-0).

Winterhawks 4 Americans 1

At Kennewick, Wash., Nic Petan had two goals and an assist as the Portland Winterhawks (25-52) defeated the Tri-City Americans (18-12-2).
