Cain Franson scored two goals Wednesday as the struggling Vancouver Giants stunned the Victoria Royals 7-2 in the Western Hockey League.
Jackson Houck, Kale Kessy, Riley Kieser, Brett Kulak and Carter Popoff also scored for the Giants (8-20-0).
Steven Hodges and Logan Nelson replied for the Royals (15-14-0).
Vancouver opened the scoring late in the first period when a shot by Franson went off a Royals defender and past goaltender Patrik Polivka.
The Giants made it 2-0 with just eight seconds left in the first when Houck blasted home a low point shot on the power play.
The Giants stretched their lead to three early in the second period as Kessy deflected a quick shot by Wes Vannieuwenhuizen, chasing Polivka from the Royals net.
Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Kelowna 6, Swift Current 5; Lethbridge 6, Edmonton 2; Red Deer 5, Regina 1; and Spokane 4, Saskatoon 1.
At Victoria, the Royals got on the board with just over seven minutes left in the middle period when a Giants defenceman deflected a weak shot from Hodges into his own net.
Vancouver responded quickly, regaining the three-goal lead when a low snapshot by Kieser beat relief goalie Coleman Vollrath.
Victoria made it 4-2 when Nelson batted in a loose puck, but Vancouver took a commanding 5-2 lead early in the third period when Kulak poked a loose puck under Vollrath.
Less than a minute later Franson potted a rebound for his second of the game, and then Popoff backhanded one in from the slot to finish the game at 7-2.
Giants goalie Payton Lee made 31 saves in the win.
Polivka stopped 12-of-15 shots before being pulled. Vollrath stopped 9-of-13 shots in relief.
Rockets 6, Broncos 5
At Kelowna, B.C., Cody Fowlie scored the game-winner and also picked up two assists as the Rockets (18-9-2) got past Swift Current (12-15-5).

At Lethbridge, Alta., Sam Mckechnie scored twice and Ty Rimmer made 33 saves as the Hurricanes (15-14-4) thumped Edmonton (18-6-5).

At Regina, Rhyse Dieno scored twice and set up two more to lead Red Deer (18-11-2) over the Pats (11-16-4).

At Saskatoon, Eric Williams made 30 saves as Spokane (21-7-1) rolled past the Blades (13-14-1).
