ERIE, Pa. - Rickard Rakell scored the tying goal at 18:35 of the third period, and scored again at 3:35 into overtime, to give the Plymouth Whalers a 4-3 win over the Erie Otters in Ontario Hockey league action Wednesday.
Erie opened a 2-0 lead in the first period with the first of two goals by J.P. Labardo, and a power-play goal by Connor McDavid.
The Whalers (13-8-4) tied the game in the second period with goals by Zach Bratina and Garrett Meurs.
Labardo's second goal of the game at 12:20 of the third period put the Otters back in front.
Erie (7-15-5) has lost four straight and is 2-9 in one-goal games.
Alex Nedeljkovic made 26 saves for the Whalers, while Oscar Dansk turned back 28 shots for the Otters.
