Broncos score three times in 5:08 span of second period, beat Wheat Kings 5-3

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Levi Bews scored twice as the Swift Current Broncos ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League action Tuesday night.

Bews opening the scoring 12:49 into the game on the power play.

Swift Current (10-12-5) scored three times in a 5:08 span of the second period, with defenceman Reece Scarlett making it 2-1 at 4:48. Bews padded the lead at 8:43, and Josh Derko followed with his third goal of the season at 9:56, to make it 4-1.

The Broncos extended their lead to 5-1 in the third period when Ryon Moser tipped home his sixth of the year on the power play at 9:28, as Swift Current went two-for-two with the man advantage.

Richard Nejezchleb scored in the first and third periods for the Wheat Kings, giving him three for the season.

Brandon's Alessio Bertaggia cut the Broncos' lead to two when he counted his team leading 15th goal with 4:45 left.

Swift Current rookie goaltender Eetu Laurikainen stopped 19 shots.

Corbin Boes made 29 saves for the Wheat Kings (10-14-3), who dropped their third in a row.
