OTTAWA - Steven Shipley had two goals and Ryan Strome had two assists Saturday as the Niagara IceDogs scored a 4-2 win over the Ottawa 67's in Ontario Hockey League play.
The IceDogs trailed 2-1 late in the second period but got a power-play goal late in the period and then another early in the third period to take a 3-2 lead. Shipley then scored an insurance goal midway through the third to ice the win for the Dogs.
Brook Hiddink and Brett Ritchie also scored for the IceDogs (15-7-1) who have now won three straight.
The 67's (6-14-2) got goals from Remy Giftopoulos and Brett Gustavsen in the loss, their sixth straight. They were also outshot 44-25 by the IceDogs and were kept in the game by the goaltending of Jacob Blair.
"I was happy with our effort and Jacob Blair gave us a chance to be in the game. We will learn from this and move on," said 67's coach Chris Byrne.
The 67's were 0-for-3 on the power play while the IceDogs went 2-for-7. Despite that stat, Niagara coach Marty Williamson wasn't happy with his special teams.
"Our power play wasn't good but we found a way to win because of our talent up front," he said.
