QMJHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games

Stefan Fournier scored three times on the power play and Jonathan Drouin chipped in with four assists as the Halifax Mooseheads beat the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 8-3 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Fournier has five goals in his last three outings and 12 goals in total this season while Drouin's performance gives him 15 goals and 33 points in 15 games and leaves him second in scoring on Halifax behind forward Nathan MacKinnon.

MacKinnon scored once and set up two more for the Mooseheads (18-2-1), which gives him 20 goals and 36 points in 21 contests, and Mathew Boudreau had two goals.

Martin Frk had a goal and two assists and Andrew Ryan scored once to round out Halifax's scoring.

Steven Mercier, Maxime St-Cyr and Mathieu Lemay each scored for the Huskies (13-8-1), who have lost four in a row, while Marcus Power and Mathieu Brisebois each picked up two assists.

Zachary Fucale made 18 saves for the win as Robin Gusse stopped 36-of-44 shots in a losing cause.

Halifax was very successful on its power play, and finished the game 6-for-11, while Rouyn-Noranda scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Cape Breton 5, Saint John 2; Val-d'Or 5, Moncton 4; P.E.I. 6, Acadie-Bathurst 3; Gatineau 4, Sherbrooke 1; Blainville-Boisbriand 6, Drummondville 3; Chicoutimi 4, Rimouski 3 (SO) and Quebec 3, Shawinigan 2 (OT).

At Halifax, Fournier opened the scoring with back-to-back goals on the power play less than five minutes into the first period to give the Mooseheads a quick 2-0 advantage.

Frk made it 3-0 with another power-play goal at 6:16 before St-Cyr put Rouyn-Noranda on the board at 11:31 while with the man advantage.

Lemay cut Halifax's lead to 3-2 with a goal at 14:16.

Mercier tied the game 5:22 into the second period with a shorthanded goal, but MacKinnon replied at 18:10 to give the Mooseheads a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Halifax then scored four straight third-period goals, including three more on the power play.

Boudreau scored on the power play 1:23 into the period, Fournier completed his hat trick on the man advantage at 12:59 and Boudreau added one more special-team's goal at 17:59.

Ryan added the Mooseheads' final goal 40 seconds later.

At Charlottetown, Louick Marcotte had two goals and two assists while Ben Duffy, Josh Currie and Erik Robichaud chipped in with three points apiece as P.E.I. (13-8-1) handed Acadie-Bathurst (9-12-4) its fourth loss in as many outings.

At Sherbrooke, Que., Taylor Burke scored twice and Michael Nishi turned away 31-of-32 shots as Gatineau (7-13-1) halted a four-game slide by downing the Phoenix (4-17-2).

At Boisbriand,Que., Marc-Olivier Roy and Danick Martel each scored twice and Xavier Ouellet chipped in three assists as the Armada (17-5-2) doubled up Drummondville (12-11-0) for their fourth win in a row.

At Saguenay, Que., Philippe Desrosiers stopped 48-of-51 shots for Rimouski, however Guillaume Asselin scored the shootout winner as Chicoutimi (10-10-3) slipped past the Oceanic (12-7-4).

At Shawinigan, Que., Marc-Antoine Carrier scored 3:52 into overtime and Zachary Fortin stopped 24-of-26 shots as Quebec (16-5-0) downed the Cataractes (4-15-3).
