Steelheads down 67's, former goaltender Clint Windsor, in 5-4 victory

OTTAWA - The Mississauga Steelheads might have had an advantage in the 5-4 win over Ottawa Tuesday night in the fact that they were very familiar with the 67's netminder.

A day after being acquired from the Steelheads, Clint Windsor was the starter in the 67's goal and he allowed five goals on 36 shots to his very recent ex-teammates.

Trevor Carrick had two goals and an assist for the Steelheads (13-5-1), Dylan Smoskowitz had two goals and Riley Brace had two assists. Josh Burnside had the other goal for Mississauga and Spencer Martin made 26 saves.

Remy Giftopoulos had two goals for Ottawa (6-11-2), while Mike Vlajkov and Sean Monahan had one each.

The loss was the fourth straight for the 67's and the third win in a row for the Steelheads.

It was also a nice homecoming for Brace, a native of Woodlawn, just outside of Ottawa. He was also playing in his 300th OHL game.

"It was fun to do it in front of my friends and family. Three hundred games is a lot of games," Brace said

"I try to play every game the same way but you get that extra little bit of a spark when you're home town. There's a lot of friends and family that come out to the game and I can't say enough about what they've done for me so far for my career and I always like to put on a little bit of a show so it's not a waste of money for them."

The Steelheads finished 1-for-3 on the power play and the 67's went 3-for-3.
