QMJHL Roundup: Ben Duffy stars in overtime as Rocket edge Titan 4-3

Ben Duffy scored twice, including the winner in overtime, as the P.E.I. Rocket edged the visiting Acadie-Bathurst Titan 4-3 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old centreman has a seven-game point streak going that includes five goals and 16 points.

Josh Currie scored once and set up two more for the Rocket (7-2-0), who have now won four straight contests, and Victor Provencher added a single goal.

P.E.I.'s Matej Beran had two assists while Duffy picked up a single assist for a three-point outing.

Matthew Bissonnette, Alec Jon Banville and Raphael Lafontaine scored a goal apiece for the Titan (4-4-2).

Antoine Bibeau turned away 21 shots for the win as Mason McDonald stopped 37 shots in a losing effort.

P.E.I. went 0-for-2 on the power play as Acadie-Bathurst scored once on three chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Moncton 4, Val-d'Or 3; Saint John 6, Rouyn-Noranda 5 (OT); Blainville-Boisbriand 7, Sherbrooke 0; Halifax 5, Drummondville 2; Quebec 4, Gatineau 1; Rimouski 4, Baie-Comeau 2 and Chicoutmi 6, Shawinigan 1.

At Charlottetown, Duffy opened the scoring at 9:39 of the first period, but Lafontaine responded for the Titan at 16:38 to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Banville gave Acadie-Bathurst its only lead of the game when he scored a power-play goal six minutes into the second period.

Twenty-eight seconds into the third period Provencher tied the game and at 4:41 Currie restored a 3-2 lead for the Rocket.

At 11:14 Bissonnette scored to force overtime, however Duffy ended the game at 2:46 of the extra period.

At Sherbrooke, Que., Storm Phaneuf stopped all 19 shots he faced and five Armada players recorded a multi-point game as Blainville-Boisbriand (7-1-1) blanked the Phoenix (1-8-1).

At Drummondville, Que., Nathan MacKinnon and Stefan Fournier each had a goal and an assist as Halifax (8-1-0) downed the Voltiguers (4-5-0).

At Gatineau, Que., Mikhail Grigorenko pushed his point streak to nine games as he scored two goals and an assist in Quebec's (8-1-0) win over the Olympiques (3-5-0).

At Rimouski, Que., Frederik Gauthier scored twice and picked up an assist and Carl Hozjan made 28 saves as the Oceanic (7-1-1) doubled up Baie-Comeau (4-4-0).
