NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly met Friday in Toronto with NHL Players' Association Executive Director Donald Fehr and Special Counsel Steve Fehr to resume negotiations toward a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The unexpected meeting came one day after the League announced the cancellation of the first two weeks of the regular-season schedule, a total of 82 games.

"Yes we had a meeting," Daly said Friday afternoon. "Nothing else to report at this time."

The sides did not announce when the next meeting will take place.

The League locked out the players on Sept. 16 because of the absence of a new CBA.
