LONDON, Ont. - John Gibson stopped 42-of-43 shots as the Kitchener Rangers edged the host London Knights 2-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Matt Puempel scored the game's first goal for the Rangers (3-1-0) and assisted on a Radek Faksa goal in the second period. Tobias Reider picked up an assist on both goals, which came by way of the power play.

Seth Griffith scored for the Knights (2-1-0) at the 15:40 mark of the third period to ruin Gibson's shutout attempt and bring his club within one goal.

Kevin Bailie stopped 25-of-27 in a losing cause.

Kitchener went 2 for 4 on the power play while London failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

The Rangers have now played four of their eight consecutive road games to start the schedule as the Memorial Auditorium complex in Kitchener is completing renovations which are adding about 1,000 seats to that facility.
