BRAMPTON, Ont. - Patrik Machac scored the game’s only goal and Matej Machovsky turned aside each of the 21 shots that he faced as the Brampton Battalion blanked the Belleville Bulls 1-0 in Ontario Hockey League action on Friday night.

Machac’s goal came at 17:14 of the first period when Brandon Robinson sprung him on a breakaway with the Bulls' defence caught flat-footed on the Battalion (1-1-1) blue line. Machac beat goaltender Malcolm Subban with a blocker-side wrist shot.

The shutout was Machovsky's seventh of his OHL career and first of the season.

“Obviously, it feels great to get the shutout and our first win of the season,” said Machovsky. “Only three games in but that was our best 60-minute effort.”

Apart from Machac’s goal, Subban was solid in net for Belleville (2-1-0) as he made 28 saves in a losing effort.

Both teams struggled on the power play as the Battalion went 0 for 5 and the Bulls 0 for 7.
