The Nashville Predators signed forward Craig Smith to a two-year contract extension worth $2 million per season, the club announced Saturday.
Smith had 14 goals and 36 points in 72 games as a rookie for the Predators last season. He was a fourth-round pick by the Predators in 2009 and spent two seasons at the University of Wisconsin before joining Nashville.
He would have been a restricted free agent after the 2012-13 season, so this deal runs through the 2014-15 campaign. Smith was Nashville's second signing of the day -- the Predators inked defenseman Kevin Klein to a five-year pact earlier Saturday.
