The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday reportedly signed 2012 second-round draft pick, Martin Frk, to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The 6-foot, 204-pound Frk has spent the past two seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He connected for 22 goals and 50 points as a rookie in 2010-2011. He was limited to 34 games last season because of a concussion, but still managed 16 goals and 13 assists. He had five goals and 11 points in 17 playoff games.

"It was a tough season with injuries and stuff, so to see him get drafted by Detroit was something good for him and the fact he's getting a contract right away shows how much confidence they have in him," Halifax coach Dominique Ducharme said.

Frk, Detroit's initial pick of the draft at No. 49 overall, wore No. 91 because of childhood idol Sergei Federov and has said he's a big fan of Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk.
