The San Jose Sharks agreed to terms with free-agent forward Adam Burish on a four-year contract worth a reported $1.8 million per season.

Burish, who won a Stanley Cup as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, spent the past two seasons with the Dallas Stars. He is coming off a career year statistically with six goals and a personal-best 19 points in 65 games.

A ninth-round pick in the 2002 NHL Draft, Burish is known more for his ability to get under opponents' skin. He averages more than a penalty minute per game and as a rookie in 2007-08 had 214 PIMs in 81 games.

Burish has ties with Sharks forward Joe Pavelski. They were teammates at the University of Wisconsin.
