Rookie Ryan Howse scores twice, leading Heat to 5-2 victory over Stars

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Rookie Ryan Howse scored twice as the Abbotsford Heat beat the Texas Stars 5-2 in American Hockey League action Monday.

Dustin Sylvester, Adam Estoclet and Andy Brandt, with his first career AHL goal, also scored for Abbotsford.

Colton Sceviour had both Texas goals, including one on a penalty shot.

Leland Irving made 22 saves for the Heat, while Tyler Beskorowany stopped 26 shots for the Stars.

The Heat (34-25-7) moved into sole possession of fifth place in the Western Conference.

Texas (27-33-4) is last in the conference.

Howse had the first multi-goal game of his career. He scored go-ahead goal for the Heat on a power play in the second period, and then gave Abbotsford a two-goal cushion early in the third.

Howse has six goals on the season with all coming after the all-star break at the end of January.
