Two teams desperately fighting for a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive Western Conference will clash in front of a nationally-televised audience Tuesday night.
The
Colorado Avalanche -- who currently sit just one point out of eighth place in the West, will host the
Minnesota Wild at the Pepsi Center. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network in the United States and TSN2 in Canada.
Minnesota (28-28-10) will be looking to avoid a three-game skid. The Wild trail eighth-place San Jose by seven points heading into Tuesday's action.
Five of 12 games begin at 7 p.m. ET.
Randy Carlyle makes his home debut as coach of the
Toronto Maple Leafs as they host the
Boston Bruins at the Air Canada Centre, while the

New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. Also, Philadelphia hosts Detroit; Carolina travels to Washington and Phoenix heads to Columbus.
The
Tampa Bay Lightning, who have gotten right back into the mix with four straight victories, face the
Ottawa Senators at the Tampa Bay Times Forum at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Two games get under way at 8 p.m. ET -- the
St. Louis Blues host the
Chicago Blackhawks at the Scottrade Center, while the
Los Angeles Kings face the
Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.
Also at 9 p.m. ET, the
Montreal Canadiens travel to Calgary to take on the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. That game can be seen on RDS in Canada.
