The top two teams in the Western Conference will square off on the NHL Network Thursday night.
The
Detroit Red Wings -- who currently sit atop the West by just two points, will face the second-place
Vancouver Canucks at Joe Louis Arena. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NHL Network in the United States.
Detroit (41-18-2) has won a League-record 23 straight games on home ice. The Canucks, however, are 20-10-2 on the road this season and still have a game in hand on the Red Wings.
Two of nine games begin at 7 p.m. ET. The
San Jose Sharks Islanders will visit the
Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre, while the
Carolina Hurricanes host the
Anaheim Ducks at the RBC Center.
Also at 7:30 p.m. ET, the
Florida Panthers will continue their fight for the Southeast Division crown as they host the
Minnesota Wild at the BankAtlantic Center.
In a huge game in the Music City, the
Nashville Predators will battle the
St. Louis Blues at Bridgestone Arena. That game is slated to begin at 8 p.m. ET. With a regulation victory, Nashville can move within a point of No. 4 St. Louis.
Two contests have 8:30 p.m. (ET) starts -- the
Winnipeg Jets and
Tampa Bay Lightning meet in a Southeast Division showdown from the MTS Centre, while the
Chicago Blackhawks host the
Dallas Stars.
In the final two games of the evening, the
Phoenix Coyotes travel to Calgary to take on the Flames (9 p.m. ET), while the
Edmonton Oilers host the
Philadelphia Flyers at Rexall Place. That match is set to begin at 9:30 p.m. ET.
