TORONTO -- Edmonton Oilers coach Tom Renney was forced to miss Monday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after being struck in the head with a puck during the morning skate.

Assistant coach Ralph Kreuger took the reigns for what is expected to be one game.

"The puck was deflected up with a strong pace and hit him in the head and he wasn't feeling right," Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini told NHL.com. "We wanted Tom looked at properly and assessed. The right thing to do was to make sure that before he gets back in an intense situation that he feels right."
