The Boston Bruins are one of the NHL's elite teams; the Carolina Hurricanes are last in the Eastern Conference. Yet it's the 'Canes, not the Bruins, who will be looking to complete a sweep of the season series when the teams meet at TD Garden in one of eight games on Thursday's NHL schedule.

Carolina has won the first three meetings with the defending Stanley Cup champs this season, though the Hurricanes come to Boston after a 5-2 home loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Boston won its first post-All Star break game by rallying to beat Ottawa 4-3 on Tuesday.

The NHL Network will air the game in the United States, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

Two other games also begin at 7. Montreal tries to bounce back from Tuesday's 3-1 home loss to Buffalo when it visits New Jersey, a 4-3 shootout winner against the Rangers on the same night. That game can be seen in Canada on RDS. Also, Nashville tries for its sixth straight win when it visits Philadelphia.

A half-hour later, Winnipeg visits Tampa Bay in a battle of teams that won after regulation on Tuesday -- the Jets were 2-1 shootout winners in Philadelphia while the Lightning beat Washington 4-3 in OT.

At 9 p.m. ET, Minnesota tries to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to Nashville on Tuesday when it visits Colorado. The Avs are back home after a 3-2 loss in Edmonton on Tuesday. The Oilers try to make it two in a row when they host Chicago at 9:30 p.m. ET in a game that can be seen in Canada on TSN.

Detroit, a 3-1 winner at Calgary on Tuesday, continues its road trip with a stop in Vancouver at 10 p.m. ET. The Canucks beat Chicago 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday in their first game after the break.

In the final game of the night, San Jose, a 6-0 winner against Columbus on Tuesday, hosts Dallas at 10:30 p.m. ET.
