Yzerman returns to Detroit with Lightning

You can still see images of longtime Detroit captain Steve Yzerman inside Joe Louis Arena. The real Stevie Y will be at the Joe on Wednesday night -- but for the first time, he won't be rooting for the home team.

Yzerman returns to Detroit for the first time as an opponent when his Tampa Bay Lightning come to Detroit. The longtime Wings captain left Detroit's front office after the 2009-10 season to become the Lightning's general manager -- and promptly led them to within one win of the Stanley Cup Final.

Versus will air the game in the United States and TSN2 will televise it in Canada, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The first of Wednesday's five games gets under way a half-hour earlier when Boston visits Toronto in the first of a home-and-home series. The Bruins are 11-0-1 in their last 12 after beating Winnipeg 4-2 on Saturday, while the Leafs are back home after a 5-2 win at Anaheim on Sunday. TSN will air the game to Canadian viewers.

Two more games get under way at 9:30. New Jersey begins a road trip in Colorado, where the Avs are continuing an eight-game homestand. The Devils come off a 3-2 home loss to the Islanders on Saturday, while the Avs fell 3-1 to Dallas on Monday. Also, Minnesota visits Edmonton in a rematch of the Oilers' 5-2 win at the Xcel Energy Center last Friday, a game that can also be seen in Canada on TSN. The Wild beat Tampa Bay 3-1 on Monday, the same night the Oilers lost 2-1 to Nashville.

In the final game of the night, Montreal begins a California trip with a visit to Anaheim. The Canadiens have been off since Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Pittsburgh at the Bell Centre.
