Freeway Faceoff highlights Wednesday's action

Wednesday, 11.16.2011 / 12:58 AM NHL.com
The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks are only a few miles away from each other in Southern California, but with the season nearly six weeks old, they still haven't faced each other.

That will change Wednesday night when the Ducks head down I-5 to the Staples Center for the first half of a home-and-home series. The back end will be Thursday night in Anaheim.

Both teams enjoyed some time off after weekend visits from Minnesota – but the Kings are coming off a 5-2 win on Saturday, while the Ducks lost 3-2 in Sunday. The game gets under way at 10:30 p.m. ET.

It's the last start on Wednesday's four-game schedule.

At 7:30 p.m. ET, New Jersey tries to rebound from Tuesday's 4-3 loss at Boston when it visits Buffalo. The Sabres are home after rallying for a 3-2 shootout win at Montreal on Monday. The game can be seen in Canada on TSN2.

Also at 7:30, the Canadiens are home again against Carolina, which fell to 6-9-3 by losing 5-3 at home to Philadelphia on Monday. That game can be seen in Canada on TSN and RDS.

In the other game, Chicago begins its annual "Circus Trip" with a stop in Vancouver. Both teams are coming off home wins on Sunday; Chicago beat Edmonton 6-3, while the Canucks beat the New York Islanders 4-1.
