ST. LOUIS -- The sale of the St. Louis Blues appears to be progressing.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Matthew Hulsizer has signed a purchase agreement to buy the Blues, a deal that includes the lease to Scottrade Center, plus the purchase of the American Hockey League's Peoria Rivermen.

The agreement still needs NHL approval. Hulsizer, the co-founder and CEO of PEAK6 Investments, had already received League approval to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes in 2010.

The purchase percentage Hulsizer would buy from current owner Dave Checketts is unclear, but it's expected to be a majority stake.

Sources indicated previously that the price range is in the neighborhood of $190 million.

The Blues have been for sale since Checketts and his company, SCP Worldwide, put the team on the market in March.
