Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth was forced to leave practice early Monday due to what he's calling a bruised foot. Washington's next game is Tuesday night at home against the Florida Panthers

Neuvirth spent 20 minutes on the ice at Kettler Iceplex on Monday before heading to the locker room. He said he suffered the injury during the morning practice before last Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Neuvirth was inactive for the Caps' past two games against the Penguins and Senators, being replaced as a backup by Braden Holtby and Dany Sabourin.

Tomas Vokoun will likely get the start against his former club Tuesday. If Neuvirth can't go, either Holtby or Sabourin will serve as Vokoun's backup.

The 23-year-old Neuvirth started the Caps' season opener, making 31 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against the Carolina Hurricanes. It's his only appearance of the season.
