The Phoenix Coyotes signed forward Paul Bissonnette to a two-year contract extension Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not revealed.

"We are very pleased to sign Paul to a multi-year extension," said Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney. "He plays an important role on our team and we are looking for him to take his game to the next level this season."

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound left wing had 1 goal and a team-high 71 penalty minutes in 48 games. He also was scoreless in one Stanley Cup Playoff game.

In 99 games with the Coyotes the last two seasons, the 26-year-old Bissonnette has 4 goals, 2 assists and 188 penalty minutes.

Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in fourth round of the 2003 Entry Draft, Bissonnette has 4 goals, 7 points and 210 penalty minutes in 104 NHL games.

Bissonnette might best be known for his prolific Twitter account. Posting under the name @BizNasty2point0, he's accumulated more than 141,000 followers.

In making the announcement himself, Bissonnette tweeted, "I'd like to announce I signed a 2 year extension with the Phoenix Coyotes today. Very happy day for my family."
