Advantage Margin: +51
No one can accuse the Leafs of not working hard on the road. They drew more power plays away from home (171) than any team in the League.

Special Teams Goal Margin: -13
While the Leafs did a great job getting power plays, their special teams didn't capitalize. Toronto was 22nd on the power play (16.0 percent) and surrendered 62 goals on just 275 opportunities (77.5 percent, 26th).

Goals by defensemen: 26
Dion Phaneuf, who averaged 18 goals in his first three seasons in the NHL, had a career-low 8 goals last season -- and still led the team by three.

Overtime Record
Total: 7-5-6 OT: 2-5 SO: 5-6
Shootouts never have been a team strength and last season was no different -- especially at home, where the Leafs lost five of eight.

Times Scored First: 32
Record: 21-4-7
The Leafs tied the Islanders for the League low by scoring first in just 12 of 41 road games. They also lost seven times in overtime or shootouts after scoring first.

Best 2010-11 Number: 0
Regulation losses by the Leafs when they led after two periods. The Leafs took a lead into the third period 28 times and got at least one point in all 28, going 24-0-4.

Worst 2010-11 Number: 7-12-4
Toronto's record on Saturdays -- particularly discouraging when you consider the Leafs played 14 of their 23 Saturday games at home. They were just 5-5-4 in those games, and 2-7-0 on the road.

Scheduling
The Leafs have no excuse for a slow start. Their first five games are at home -- and after opening the season against Montreal, the other four teams all missed the playoffs last season. They also have nine of 10 at home to start January. Toronto has no trip longer than a five-gamer in March, but has a four-game trip in each of the season's first three months.
