All summer long, NHL Network will be replaying the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs -- from every jaw-dropping goal to every highlight-reel save to every crushing defeat.
Each game of the postseason -- spanning the more than two-month period from the opening round to Boston's Game 7 clincher of the Stanley Cup Final -- will be shown on the Network throughout the offseason.
Fans can tune in at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET nightly for a different game -- and different chance to re-live history. A complete program schedule can be found on NHLNetwork.com.
The Canucks picked up right where they left off in Game 1.
Logan Couture completed a sweet coast-to-coast attack with a power-play goal 2:28 into the game, but it was mostly Vancouver from there on.
Daniel Sedin one-timed a feed from brother Henrik for a power-play equalizer and just 39 seconds later,
Raffi Torres poked a backhanded
Christian Ehrhoff pass past
Antti Niemi for the go-ahead.
Patrick Marleau was able to draw the Sharks even again with some solid stick work in traffic for another power-play goal and another tie.
Kevin Bieksa was dangerous on the rush in Game 1, and he did it again midway through the second. Soon after, he won a fight with Marleau and then assisted on
Chris Higgins' power-play goal to complete the
Gordie Howe hat trick. Daniel picked up his second power-play tally while
Aaron Rome and
Mason Raymond completed a run of five unanswered Vancouver goals. San Jose, in the meantime, struggled to maintain its composure in the third, picking up nine penalties in that period alone.
The 7-3 win gave the Canucks a 2-0 series lead -- but more important is that it was the Sharks’ fifth loss in six games since Game 4 of their conference semifinal against Detroit. Only a strong Game 7 performance kept them off the golf course. Things would have to change starting with Game 3 in San Jose.
