Of the 30 first-round picks to be made at the NHL Entry Draft at the Xcel Energy Center on Friday night, seven don't belong to the team that originally owned them.
The earliest pick to move was the eighth choice, which went from Columbus to Philadelphia on Thursday in the trade the sent center
Jeff Carter to the Blue Jackets. The next choice (No. 9) would have belonged to Toronto, but was dealt to Boston in the summer of 2009 as part of the deal that sent forward
Phil Kessel to the Leafs.
Colorado, which picks No. 2 overall, also owns the 11th pick that would have belonged to St. Louis, as the result of a mid-February blockbuster deal. Colorado sent defenseman
Kevin Shattenkirk, forward
Chris Stewart and a second-round pick to St. Louis for defenseman
Erik Johnson and forward
Jay McClement, as well as the Blues' first-rounder.
Edmonton owns the No. 1 pick in the draft, but also has the 19th pick as the result of a deadline deal that sent forward
Dustin Penner to Los Angeles. Nashville would have picked 21st but sent that pick to Ottawa for center
Mike Fisher.
Toronto picked up a pair of late first-rounders thanks to two deals it made in February. The Leafs got Philadelphia's pick, No. 25 overall, by sending forward
Kris Versteeg to the Flyers -- and picked up Boston's pick, the last one in the opening round, as part of the package they received for defenseman
Tomas Kaberle.
