DETROIT – A 4-1 victory against the Detroit Red Wings wasn't the only good news for the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.

They also got a positive report about No. 1 center Brad Richards, who stayed behind in Dallas and has missed five games with what's believed to be a concussion. Stars coach Marc Crawford confirmed after Thursday's game that Richards skated on his own earlier in the day.

Forwards Adam Burish and Krys Barch returned against the Red Wings after missing eight games each with facial injuries, while defenseman Nicklas Grossman continues to make progress from a lower-body injury.

"(Richards) skated today, and I haven't heard anything else besides that," Crawford said. "The news is good on him, so let's hope it continues to be good as we keep going through every day. You're hopeful that we get another shot in the arm with the return of Brad and the return of Nick Grossman. In the interim, we just have to be patient. Those are both injuries that require the players to do what the medical people tell them."

Richards, a free agent this summer, is the Stars' leading scorer with 24 goals and 63 points in 56 games.
