The
Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday unveiled a new logo and uniform that will be put to use starting next season.
With models
Vincent Lecavalier,
Martin St. Louis and
Steven Stamkos, along with franchise founder and Hockey Hall of Famer
Phil Esposito and former captain
Dave Andreychuk, the new home jersey is a blue sweater with blue pants, and a new Lightning bolt crest in a circle.
The road uniform is a white jersey with the Lightning crest and Tampa Bay in writing above it.
Lightning CEO Tod Leiweke said the goal of the new uniform was to create something "iconic," "bold," and "classic."
"When a player pulls on the Lightning sweater, we want him to know exactly who he represents and what the mark he is wearing stands for," said GM
Steve Yzerman. "The long-term goal is for the Lightning to be an iconic franchise, rich in tradition with championship values and a strong legacy."
