Malkin will also miss All-Star Weekend

Pittsburgh center Evgeni Malkin is joining teammate Sidney Crosby on the All-Star injured list and will not be attending the festivities in Raleigh this coming weekend, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma told reporters Tuesday after the team's morning skate in preparation for their final game before the break.

Malkin will miss his third straight game Tuesday when the Penguins host the Islanders. Bylsma said he's out with a sinus infection/illness, but he has reportedly been bothered by a left knee injury as well.

"Evgeni Malkin was not out on the ice today and will not be in the game tonight," Bylsma told reporters at Consol Energy Center. "He will also not be going to the All-Star Game this coming week due to the sinus infection, illness -- he has symptoms that prevent him from going on the ice at this time. We'll continue to keep him off the ice.

"The symptoms from the sinus infection and pressure in his head are preventing him from going on the ice right now."

Malkin was voted into the 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover by the fans, but he hasn't played since Pittsburgh's 4-1 win over Detroit last Tuesday. He has 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 42 games this season.

The Penguins announced on Monday that Crosby would not be attending All-Star Weekend due to the lingering concussion symptoms he is still experiencing.

Atlanta All-Star defenseman Tobias Enstrom reportedly has a broken finger and will be out 2-3 weeks, meaning he will skip All-Star Weekend as well.

Edmonton forward Ales Hemsky (concussion) and Calgary captain Jarome Iginla (personal reasons) are also not going to attend despite being named All-Stars. Oilers rookie Jordan Eberle (ankle) had to pull out as well despite being selected to join 11 fellow rookies in the Honda SuperSkills competition on Saturday night.
