Kyle Wellwood has a new NHL team, as the veteran forward was claimed off re-entry waivers Tuesday by the San Jose Sharks.

The 27-year-old Wellwood is a veteran of 338 NHL games with Toronto and Vancouver, recording 63 goals and 160 points. He finished last season with 14 goals and 25 points in 75 games for the Canucks.

Wellwood played in 25 games this season for KHL team Mytishchi Atlanti, putting up 5 goals and 8 points.

He agreed to a one-year contract with St. Louis on Monday, but had to pass through re-entry waivers first, which is when San Jose acquired him. It's the second time this season the Blues have lost out on a player due to re-entry waivers; they signed Marek Svatos last month, but he was promptly claimed by the Predators.
