Crosby extends scoring streak to 25 games

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sidney Crosby has extended his point streak to 25 games with a power-play goal in the first period against Atlanta.

The Penguins captain passed the puck from along the right-wing boards to defenseman Kris Letang between the circles, then took Letang's giveback to score while dropping to a knee 10:34 into Tuesday night's game.

Crosby has at least one goal in five consecutive games and 25 during his streak, which began Nov. 5 in Anaheim.

Crosby's streak ties him with four others for the NHL's 11th longest. It is the longest in 19 years, since Mats Sundin's 30-game streak for Quebec during the 1992-93 season.

Wayne Gretzky owns the record with a 51-game streak in 1983-84.
