Blues' Oshie to miss at least three months

The St. Louis Blues lost a lot more than their first hockey game in eight tries Wednesday after suffering a season-worst 8-1 defeat at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

T.J. Oshie suffered a broken left ankle midway through the third period of Wednesday's game. The injury occurred when Columbus' Samuel Pahlsson fell on Oshie during a scrap with 11 minutes remaining.

Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong said before Thursday's game that the feisty forward has had surgery and will be re-evaluated in three months.

The Blues called up a pair of forwards from AHL Peoria to replace Oshie -- Nick Drazenovich and Chris Porter.

Oshie becomes the second player on the Blues' second line to be sidelined by injury, following David Perron's concussion-related symptoms.

Despite the fact the Blues had been rolling prior to Wednesday's disaster -- the club is second in the Western Conference with 9 wins and 20 points -- the loss of Oshie will test their mettle. The third-year forward leads the team with 9 assists and 10 points. He's also third on the team with 24 hits and first with 11 takeaways.

Following Thursday's home game against the Nashville Predators, the Blues go on a three-game road trip, starting in Phoenix on Saturday, followed by games in Colorado on Monday and Detroit on Wednesday.

Drazenovic, a 2005 sixth-round pick, leads Peoria with 6 goals and is tied for third with 9 points in 13 games. Porter has 4 goals and 9 points in 14 games.
