Probert's memoirs to be published

A book about the life of long-time NHL tough guy Bob Probert that was being written when he died last month will still be published.

Probert, who was writing a book about his career with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks titled, "Tough Guy," still will be released Oct. 26. The book also tells the story of Probert's life away from the ice, including his struggles with alcohol.

Probert was working on the book with Kristie McLellan Day before his tragic heart attack July 5.

"He was really excited and happy about the opportunity to tell it like it really was -- behind the headlines," Probert's widow, Dani Probert, said in a statement released by publisher HarperCollinsCanada. "After much deliberation, my family and I have decided to fulfill Bob's dream and publish the book."
