AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton inks Andrew Orpik

Forward is younger brother of Penguins' Brooks Orpik

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed right wing Andrew Orpik to an American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Friday.

Orpik, 24, spent most of last season with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL).  The 6-3, 200-lb forward posted 22 points (10G, 12A) and 38 penalty minutes in 35 games.  The native of East Amherst, New York, also earned his first action in the AHL last season with the San Antonio Rampage, where he posted five points (1G, 4A) in 22 contests.

Orpik, the younger brother of Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik, completed his four-year collegiate career with Boston College (HE) in 2009.  He finished his tenure with 47 points (18G, 29A) and 145 penalty minutes in 155 games, and was a member of the Eagles’ 2008 National Championship Team.
