Arbitration award announced for Sabres' Kennedy

Buffalo Sabres forward Tim Kennedy was awarded a one year, $1 million contract Thursday by an arbitrator.

Kennedy's hearing took place July 27 in Toronto. As per the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the club is not eligible to walk away from an award lower than $1,611,180.

Kennedy collected 10 goals and 26 points in 78 games during his rookie season with the Sabres. The 24-year-old Buffalo native also contributed 1 goal and 3 points in six playoff games.
